KUWAIT CITY, June 24: The US Department of State announced on Wednesday the resumption of operations at the US Embassy in Kuwait after more than three months of closure due to the war with Iran. A State Department spokesperson said in a statement that “the US Embassy in Kuwait resumed operations effective midnight June 24, 2026, following a suspension imposed after Iranian attacks.” The spokesperson noted that the embassy will immediately provide emergency services to American citizens, with other offerings expected to be reinstated gradually. On his part, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio posted on his X account pictures of his participation in a ceremony marking the raising of the US flag once again at the United States Embassy in Kuwait. “The American flag: a symbol of liberty, unity and freedom now flies proudly once again over Kuwait City,” said Rubio. “Kuwait is an indispensable partner for regional security and stability, the US looks forward to strengthening our partnership across all areas of cooperation,” he added. The US had suspended operations at its embassy in Kuwait in early March following Iranian attacks.
