The reconstruction and modernization of Universal hallone of the most significant cultural symbols of Skopjeis a project of exceptional importance, because with the new look the city will get a modern, functional and representative cultural institution, reported MIA.
The renovated building will have space for top concerts, theater performances, festivals and large cultural events. The reconstruction is planned to be completed by December 2027, and the project is of particular importance within the framework of Skopje’s preparations for European Capital of Culture 2028.
Today’s inspection of the construction activities was attended by the Prime Minister Christian Mickoskithe Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Lyutkov and the mayor of Skopje Orce Gjordjievski.
Mickoski stated that he expects the facility to be completed within the stipulated time and within the budget, pointing out that by 2028 all facilities related to the “European Capital of Culture” project must be finalized.
Minister Ljutkov informed that the procedure for selecting a contractor has been successfully completed and that the project will be implemented according to the “turnkey” principle.
He emphasized that it is an investment in the future of Macedonian culture, artists, the audience and future generations.
Mayor Gjorgjievski expressed satisfaction with the start of the realization and emphasized that after a long time one of its most recognizable cultural symbols is returning to Skopje.
