Two young boys from Qeqertarsuaq crashed on a snowmobile on Sunday. They are both in critical condition.
Sunday 1 February 2026, two young boys aged 15 and 16 were involved in a serious snowmobile accident in Qeqertarsuaq.
The Greenland Police write this in a press release.
On Sunday evening at around 10:40 p.m., the Greenland Police received a report that two had disappeared in Qeqertarsuaq. The two young people had been riding a snowmobile in the city since 4pm, and around 5pm they were seen by a witness on Lyngmarksfjelldet riding a snowmobile.
Several citizens from the local area together with the police on Sunday evening looked for the young people on the mountain and at 11.45 pm they were found in an accident with the snowmobile.
Both people were seriously injured and were transported to the nearest hospital. The young people are still in a critical condition after the accident and will be transported on Monday by Air Greenland’s SAR helicopter to the hospital in Nuuk for further treatment.
The two young people are from the local area, and the next of kin have been informed.
The police are currently investigating the scene of the accident.
