A armed attack that occurred on the night of Friday, April 10, left three members of the same family murdered in the canton of El Guabo, province of El Oro. The incident occurred in a property located on the Pan-American Highway and Santa Rosa Street, where an ancestral medicine healing center operated.
The victims were identified as Gerardo Izmael González Figueroa, 59 years old; his wife, Narcisa Josefina Isves Jumbo, 63; and the son Gonzalo Adrián González Isves, 36 years old. All three died from gunshot woundsas recorded in the police extract collected by specialized units.
Details of the assault
According to the preliminary version, the attack occurred around 7:47 p.m. A relative of the victims told investigators that two subjects arrived at the scene on a motorcycledressed in clothing similar to that worn by construction workers, and entered the establishment before shooting those who were inside.
That property was known as Traditional Healer Don Betoan ancestral medicine center in which, according to the version given to the Police, the family members had worked for several years. The scene was initially reported as a case with two people dead and one injured.
Finding of the bodies and confirmation of the third death
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the body of a woman lying at the entrance door of the premises. Inside, in a space used as an office, they found a second male victim. Both presented gunshot wounds to the chest and headaccording to the external visual examination carried out at the scene.
The third victim had been evacuated by relatives to a health home. Hours later, the Police confirmed that Gonzalo Adrián González Isves passed away at the Teófilo Dávila hospital, in Machala, as a result of a gunshot wound to the forehead.
The doctor on duty at that health home indicated that the patient was admitted with active bleeding, severe pain and loss of visual acuity. Despite medical interventions, he did not recover and died due to the severity of his injuries.
Hypothesis about the motive of the crime
Within the police extract, the motivation for the incident is included as a preliminary investigative hypothesis. According to that document, the case could be linked to some type of retaliation, because the victims would be direct relatives of an alleged member of a organized crime group identified as SaoBox.
That line has not yet been officially confirmed by the judicial authority.
Key evidence: a burned motorcycle
In the midst of the proceedings, the Police also reported the discovery of a cremated motorcycle on La Palestine road, at 8:20 p.m. on the same Friday, April 10. The vehicle was registered in the name of a woman who claimed that it had been stolen from her in December 2025 and that she did not report the incident out of fear.
Investigators indicated that the motorcycle has characteristics similar to those observed in security videos related to the attack, which is why it was taken for examination while interviews, camera reviews and the search for those responsible continue.
