According to the IGP, the epicenter of the earthquake was south of Ica, in the department of Icawith latitude -14.66 and longitude -76.27.

The seismic event reached an intensity of between III and IV in the city of Ica; However, the tremor was not perceived by the majority of local residents.
So far, local authorities and the National Defense Institute (Indeci) have not reported personal or material damage due to the seismic movement.
As a preventive measure against an earthquake, Indeci recommends a emergency backpack which should include:
- Hygiene items: hand and bath towels, toothbrush, toothpaste and toilet soap.
- First aid kit: bandages, gauze, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and pills.
- Coats.
- Non-perishable food and still bottled water.
- Battery-powered radio, flashlight, lighter, duct tape, masks, among other items.

For its part, the Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation of the Peruvian Navy ruled out that the shaking generate a tsunami on the Peruvian coast.
