Dominikot Szoboszlai, a fan of the Liverpool football club was chosen as the best player of the season. The captain of the Hungarian national team received more than two-thirds of the fan votes.
Szoboszlai had the best season of his career so far: he started 53 of Liverpool’s 57 games, each time as a starter. He scored a total of 13 goals and provided 12 assists. He was chosen as the player of the month five times and the best of the match eight times.
However, Liverpool did not have such a brilliant season: they only finished in fifth place in the league, behind Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa, and in the Champions League, they were eliminated in the quarter-finals, losing to eventual winner PSG. The club is at the end of the season sacked the head coach of the team, Arne Slotot, who may be replaced by Andoni Iraola, who recently left Bournemouth.
