The tourism sector continues its momentum at the start of 2026. According to data communicated by the Ministry of TourismTHE travel receipts in foreign currencies stood at 31 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter, an increase of 24% compared to the same period of 2025.
This performance comes in a context of continued growth in arrivals. Morocco welcomed 4.3 million tourists between January and March, up 7% year-on-year. A development which confirms the trend observed in recent years, marked by a sustained return of international flows and better resilience of the sector.
Beyond the volume, these results reflect an evolution of the tourist positioning of the Kingdom. The sector seems to generate more value, driven by a more diversified offering and a gradual move upmarket of services.
For the ministry, this dynamic reflects a growing economic impact on the territories. Tourist revenues in fact constitute an important lever for local activity, particularly in regions dependent on the sector. “This revenue dynamic reflects an increasingly significant economic impact on local ecosystems. Our objective is to consolidate this trajectory, by continuing to develop and diversify the offer, improve the experience, and strengthen the sector’s capacity to create value in all regions of the Kingdom”, underlines Fatim-Zahra AmmorMinister of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy.
The authorities now intend to consolidate this trajectory, by continuing efforts to diversify the offer and improve the visitor experience, in a context of increased competition between destinations.
