On June 18, 2026, the Board of Directors of the Liechtenstein AHV-IV-FAK institutions decided on a realignment at management level. The company management now consists of a chairman of the management board and three members of the management board. Previously, a director headed the AHV-IV-FAK institutions. Thomas A. Hasler was elected as the new CEO. Hasler has been head of the disability insurance department since 2023 and one of the two deputies to the current director since 2026.
«Thomas A. Hasler has broad specialist knowledge of social security and many years of management experience. At the same time, he knows the AHV-IV-FAK institutions and their challenges very well from his own experience,” says Adrian Hasler, President of the Board of Directors. “With him, a personality is taking over the leadership who is already shaping the company today and is ideally prepared for this important task.”
Early voting enables an orderly handover. It creates planning security and ensures continuity in the management of the AHV-IV-FAK institutions. In recent years, several long-standing leaders have retired or are about to retire. Thanks to forward-looking succession planning, these key positions can be filled specifically with experienced individuals. In this way, the company ensures the transfer of knowledge and ensures stability in a phase of generational change.
Thomas A. Hasler stands for continuity and further development
Thomas A. Hasler is 46 years old and lives in Gamprin-Bendern. After commercial training with a vocational baccalaureate and initial professional experience at the Liechtensteinische Landesbank, he completed a degree in business administration and later a master’s degree in managed health care.
From 2004 to 2014 he held various management positions in the social security area of the state administration. He headed the social insurance department, which was then part of the Office of Economic Affairs and later of the Office of Health. She then worked as head of unemployment insurance at the Office of Economic Affairs. From 2015 he served as managing director of the Liechtenstein Health Insurance Association and as a member of the extended management of Tarifsuisse AG.
In 2023, Thomas A. Hasler took over the management of the disability insurance department at the AHV-IV-FAK-Anstalten. Since 2026 he has also been one of the two deputies of the director.
In his role as chairman of the new management, Thomas A. Hasler will manage the AHV-IV-FAK-Anstalten together with the other members of the management. These are Harald Schädler, Head of Central Services and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, and Andreas Hoop, Head of Contributions and Benefits. As part of the internal change, the head of the disability insurance department will be replaced by Thomas A. Hasler.
The AHV-IV-FAK institutions will face key tasks in the coming years. The long-term financial security of social services is decided by the legislature. The AHV-IV-FAK institutions will reliably implement its decisions. At the same time, they continue to expand their digital services and continually adapt their processes to legal and social requirements. The use of artificial intelligence will also become more important both in supporting customers and in administration. Thomas A. Hasler will continue to advance these topics together with the management and employees.
Walter Kaufmann will retire in spring 2027
Walter Kaufmann has worked for the institutions since 1990 and has headed them as director and now as chairman of the management board since 2006. He will remain chairman of the management board of the AHV-IV-FAK-Anstalten until his retirement in spring 2027.
During this time, the tasks of the AHV-IV-FAK institutions have changed significantly. Comprehensive legal adjustments, numerous new services, increasing case numbers, new requirements for services and digitalization as well as the further development of the organization characterized his work at the company.
