Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei expressed his belief that the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz region is heading for a future without the US presence in a message marking Persian Gulf Day amid ongoing tensions.
In his statement, published by the state-run IRNA news agency, Khamenei said the Strait of Hormuz has long been the subject of disputes, noting that it “has fueled the greed of many ‘devils’ over the centuries”, referring to the expulsion of Portuguese forces in 1622.
He argued that after the start of the conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran in late February, Iranians “saw with their own eyes the manifestations of endurance, vigilance and courageous struggle” of the country’s armed forces.
Khamenei also stressed that Tehran will defend its achievements in the nuclear sector and missile technology, points of contention in negotiations with the United States.
“Ninety million brave and devout Iranians and compatriots, both at home and abroad, consider all original, intellectual, human, scientific and industrial potential, as well as new and fundamental technologies – from nano- and biotechnologies to nuclear and missile technologies – as national treasures,” Khamenei said, adding that Iran intends to protect all these achievements in the same way it protects its land, sea and borders. aerial.
Iran’s supreme leader spoke of “a new chapter” taking shape in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, attributing the development to what he called the United States’ “shameful failure” in the region.
“Today, two months after the world’s largest campaign and aggression in the region and the failure of America in its plan, a new chapter is being born. America’s puppet bases do not even have the power and the ability to ensure their own security … let alone the hope that America will provide security to the dependent and pro-American peoples of the region,” he said.
According to Khamenei:
“The bright future of the Persian Gulf region will be a future without America and at the service of the progress, prosperity and comfort of its people.”
