French coach Hervé Renard did not hesitate to direct harsh criticism at the Tunisian national team players following the heavy loss to Sweden. He exploded in anger inside the locker room and sent them a reprimanding message that carried a lot of reproach and resentment.
Renard told his players: “Do you know how much money people spent and traveled thousands of kilometers to be here for you? Do you realize what would happen if we returned to our country at this level? “The whole world was angry at what it saw.”
The French coach added in a sharp tone: “You do not realize the size of the opportunity that is in your hands.” Millions of players dream of just being in the World Cup, while you are here and do not appear in a way that befits your country and your fans.”
Renard recalled his personal experience to confirm his message, saying: “A few days ago, I was outside the scene and watching the tournament in front of the television screen, but you have an opportunity that does not happen often. “You are lucky to be here, but luck alone is not enough.”
He concluded his speech in a strict tone: “If you want the respect of the fans and yourselves, you must fight on the field and give everything you have. “What happened cannot be accepted and must not be repeated.”
Renard’s angry words came in an attempt to wake up his players after the disappointing start, and push them to provide a strong response in the upcoming matches.
