A program mobilizing a total budget of 400 million DH
Improvement : SRM Casablanca-Settat is supervising the implementation of a major program to set up 27 monobloc seawater desalination and brackish water demineralization stations, 19 of which are already in service, for a forecast annual capacity of 8.19 million m³. The objective is to secure the region’s drinking water supply and to alleviate possible water crises.
A reality which illustrates the commitment of the Société Régionale Multiservices Casablanca-Settat (SRM/CS) to the inhabitants of the region. With these colossal investments, the company intends to offer them a quality service and contribute to improving their living environment, while supporting the region in major structuring projects and basic infrastructure. According to a press release from the SRM, this is a program mobilizing a total budget of 400 million DH, financed by the Ministry of the Interior and the Council of the Casablanca-Settat region. Mouhcine Moursli, project manager at SRM Casablanca-Settat, quoted in the press release, said that “the work to build these monobloc stations is at its final stage, with a progress rate today exceeding 80%, thanks to the strong mobilization of teams across all provinces and prefectures. The implementation of the program will, in fact, contribute to securing the drinking water supply throughout the region. It should be noted that until today, 19 stations are already in service in the provinces of Settat (8 stations), El Jadida (5 stations), Berrechid (2 stations), Nouaceur (2 stations) and Sidi Bennour (2 stations). The volume of drinking water produced since the launch of this program exceeds 2.1 million m³, a significant contribution to the drinking water supply of several municipalities in the region.
And this dynamic continues with 8 monobloc stations currently under construction, 5 of which are nearing completion in Sidi Rahal (40 l/s), Mohammedia (10 l/s), Deroua (3 l/s), as well as in Sidi Hajjaj where two stations are planned for a total capacity of 8 l/s.
Modular desalination solutions
The commissioning of these infrastructures took place at the end of April 2026. The three other stations which were under construction in the province of Benslimane, more precisely in the commune of Mansouria, for a total capacity of 60 l/s. This is the largest station in the program, which began commissioning at the end of May 2026. Based on reverse osmosis technology, these monoblock stations constitute an ecological and innovative solution for obtaining high-quality treated water, while quickly responding to the urgent needs of local populations. Their implementation contributes to securing the water supply, particularly in vulnerable areas, particularly rural areas, such as the communes of Ouled Ghanem and Ouled Aïssa in the province of El Jadida.
It should be noted that since the start of its activities, SRM-CS has implemented an investment program to meet the growing needs of residents and support the development of the region. Thus, and under the effect of increasing water stress and pressure on conventional resources, the Casablanca-Settat region is banking on modular desalination solutions to secure access to drinking water, while consolidating its capacity to adapt to climate risks. To cope with growing water tensions, SRM Casablanca-Settat is accelerating the deployment of its program to secure the drinking water supply.
