The ruling party is preparing to defend Adorni in Congress and does not rule out the presence of Milei

Despite recommendations to the contrary from its own allies, the ruling party is determined to receive the Chief of Staff at the venue next Wednesday the 29th. Manuel Adorni -investigated in court for alleged illicit enrichment- to offer his management report in the Chamber of Deputies.

Even the ruling party in the lower house does not rule out that the Javier Milei is present at the session, a sign that libertarians They are not going to let go of Adorni’s hand and would be willing to move on to counteroffensive.

“It’s probably going to be spicy, buy popcorn”the president of the Chamber of Deputies anticipated, in a joking tone, Martin Menemduring a lunch held at the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires and which was headed by its president Rosalía Silvestre. The Riojan confirmed there not only that the briefing will take place, but that the entire libertarian bench will be present to defend Adorni.

In his presentation in front of the representatives of the most renowned studios in the city, Menem detailed the priorities of the legislative agenda for the coming weeks and even made a preview of the electoral strategy for next year; In this sense, he emphasized that the intention of La Libertad Avanza is to articulate a broad opposition front in the province of Buenos Aires to confront the Kirchnerist forces gathered behind Governor Axel Kicillof.

Manuel Adorni, until now protected by the brothers Javier and Karina MileiSoledad Aznarez

Regarding Adorni’s situation, Menem sent a clear message. “The 94 legislators plus whoever speaks to them will be there accompanying the Chief of Staff in the briefing session, complying with what the Constitution orders,” emphasized the president of the Lower House, who added that the different blocks have already submitted more than 4,800 questions to be answered by the official. A record that, he said, he only seeks wear down the government.

“Everything has only one objective: to install discouragement, scrape the Government and take us all into the mud. By not having a management with which to compare or new ideas or alternatives, (the opposition) intends to generate discouragement and equalize downwards,” reproached the Riojan.

Despite the recent revelations about his wealth growth not yet declared and the progress in the judicial investigation, The ruling party decided to narrow ranks in defense of Adorni and send signals that he will remain firm in his position.

“Manuel is and will continue to be the chief of staff. He is not going to leave,” the lieutenants of the general secretary of the Presidency maintain, emphatically. Karina Milei.

“There may be surprises in the session”they slide, enigmatic. They do not want to anticipate their strategy knowing that the opposition is going to take advantage of the scenario to attack the Chief of Staff. Nor will President Milei himself attend the session, although they do not rule it out: after all, it was the head of state himself who said three weeks ago that he was going to accompany his coordinating minister to Congress.

“In the opposition there are those who have not yet presented their sworn declaration of assets and assets that are not justified”spur on the most combative voices of the ruling party, convinced that the best defense against an attack is a counterattack. Everything indicates then that, if it takes place, the session is heading towards being a hand-to-hand fight.

During lunch, Menem addressed issues that went beyond what was strictly parliamentary. For example, he announced that it is the intention of the ruling party to advance in a agreement with the non-Peronist political forces of the province of Buenos Aires -among them Pro and the UCR- to try to win the governorship, today in the hands of Kicillof.

“The only way to beat the strong apparatus of Peronism is by bringing together all the actors who are not part of Peronism,” he said. “I remember that in 2015 María Eugenia Vidal won with just 37% of the votesand Peronism was divided. Our aspiration is to try to go, all of us who do not think the same, united, obviously, leading La Libertad Avanza.”

The ruling party is convinced that there is no possibility of winning presidential re-election without a victory in the country’s main district. The Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilliis the strongest candidate to contest the governorship, advances in the libertarian plants. But the name of the deputy also appears Sebastian ParejaBuenos Aires owner of LLA.

Likewise, Menem detailed the legislative agenda for the coming months. He confirmed that in the coming days the Executive Branch will send a project for political and electoral reform: on this point he confirmed that the Executive Branch will insist on definitively eliminating the primary system and that it will seek to introduce modifications in the Single Paper Ballot (BUP).

Likewise, he anticipated that this year the Government will not appoint applicants to complete the integration of the Supreme Court – “it will be an issue for 2027,” he said – and that its priority will be to fill the more than 300 vacancies in the Judiciary. “Progress is being made on this and the hearings in the Senate begin these days”held.

As legislative priorities, he highlighted the importance of sanctioning the patent treaty, demanded by the United States; the project on the inviolability of private property and approval of the call “litter law”. He ruled out that the agenda includes projects to repeal the law that criminalizes abortion or promote euthanasia.
