The National Federation of Departments (FND) has carried out a series of events to socialize the results of its ‘The Regions Propose’ strategy, initiative that has been carrying out the task of identifying, collecting, analyzing and proposing solutions to the urgent needs of the territories for more than four years.
From this work, the central purpose is generate articulation scenarios between the Nation and territorial entities, to guarantee compliance with the constitutional mandate of decentralization and regional autonomy.

One of the most notable meetings will bring together six presidential candidates this Wednesday, April 15 at the Álvaro del Portillo Auditorium of the University of La Sabana (Chía, Cundinamarca). This event, organized in alliance with Casa Editorial EL TIEMPO, La FM and Red+ Noticias and the university itself, will host a new edition of the Governors’ Summit under the name ‘The Regions Proponent’.
Furthermore, in the academic forum the presidential candidates will receive this prioritization, based strictly on the real needs of the territories, to know their position on them and with the purpose of influence the decisions that will mark the national agenda during the next quadrennium.
During this space, the candidates and their teams will be presented with the proposals formulated by the territories, emphasizing the regulatory reforms necessary to strengthen territorial autonomy and decentralization. Simultaneously, the forum will allow us to know the vision that each candidate has regarding territorial development.
The interventions will focus on the Nation-Territories articulation, the position regarding the Competition Law and the actions of the central government in addressing the main territorial problems: health, security, education, agriculture, justice and infrastructure.
Initially, each presidential candidate will have 15 minutes to present their priority proposals for the regions; and in a second segment, the moderators will ask them questions related to the ‘White Paper: ‘The Regions Propose’, a document that compiles the proposals of the departmental governments. And finally, they will answer a situational and random question designed to evaluate the capacity to respond to the needs in the regions.

The interventions They will be done in alphabetical order, The following will take part: Roy Barreras (Front for Life Consultation), Iván Cepeda (Historical Pact Party), Abelardo De La Espriella (Defenders of the Homeland Movement), Sergio Fajardo (Dignity and Commitment Party), Claudia López (Solutions Consultation) and Paloma Valencia (Great Consulta for Colombia).
Within the framework of this day, the official launch of the School of Government of the University of La Sabana. This institution will present to the departmental leaders a portfolio of programs and initiatives aimed at the training of current political leadership and future generations.
