LAre private lessons which strain the budget of Tunisian families a curse that we are forced to endure while waiting for heaven to come to our aid and free us from the diktat of a fringe of secondary and higher education teachers and primary school teachers who take advantage of citizens, without shame or a bit of compassion for their already depleted purses?
The President of the Republic may well insist, during the meetings he holds regularly with the Head of Government, the Minister of Education and various regional officials, without forgetting the bosses of educational associations, on the imperative need to find a radical solution to this endemic evil which is plaguing the educational institution and not only public schools but also private education unfortunately considered by some of its promoters as a business escaping all control.
It is an undeniable fact: the authorities in charge of the education file have failed in their mission and the Head of State is a thousand times right to denounce their inability to assume their responsibilities, to urge them to have the courage to “give up the apron” for the benefit of competent young people impatient to showcase their expertise and their know-how, and finally to call on justice so that the “leeches” receive “the rewards” they deserve.
In these particular moments of the current year marked, in particular, by the enormous expenses imposed by the Eid El Idha festival, while waiting for the summer holidays (weddings and festivities relating to school and university successes), it becomes urgent to think of a general mobilization going beyond the classic cyclical campaigns leading to only meager results. It is urgent to design a long-term strategy that takes into consideration the interests of families and those of educators whose financial situation also calls for a radical solution.
There remains, always, the legitimate ambition to see the Head of State take the appropriate decisions which will eradicate this phenomenon and establish a truly popular school.
