Relatives and survivors continued this Friday to express their feelings before the judge of the First Investigative Court of the National District, Raymundo Mejíain the preliminary trial against Antonio and Maribel Espaillat for the case Jet Set.
The first to declare was Crismarlyn Altagracia Encarnacionone of the direct victims, who said she hopes for justice.
“All the victims who are here need let justice be done. I believe in God and I know that in due time everything will come to an end; I only ask that the heart of each person here be touched and justice be done,” Encarnación commented, and revealed that only two of the ten people who attended the place with her came out alive.
Winton Tejedafather of the deceased doctor Melisa Yismel Tejeda Sosa, explained that he has faced grief with therapies and medications while observing his “home full of sadness”.
“My first daughter of the marriage, a virtuous, wonderful, excellent, concerned daughter with Christian values; today I can only see her empty room and home full of sadness”, he commented.
He added that the tragedy not only “took” to his daughter, but to others 235 people workers, fathers and mothers.
“I only ask that this pain can comfort me in the time and heal my familythat we have, today, the same time that we have after the death of my daughter under medication, under therapies,” he stated.
Tejeda also pointed out that the relatives of the deceased go through “situations of mental health problems; situations that are linked to demanding justice, when justice should be in our hands.”
“The pain doesn’t go away!”
Then he spoke Giordano Almontewho lost his mother in the tragedy of April 8, 2025 and who cried out for the empathy of the Espaillat brothers, as a minor gesture in the face of what happened.
“The least one would expect is for there to be some kind of real empathy, not to come and buy some dead people for three shillings; but it’s not because of the money, it’s because it’s irreparable, it’s because it’s priceless, it’s because there’s no way.The pain doesn’t go away“He said euphorically.
Almonte added that in addition to losing his mother he also lost an uncle. “We have felt, practically, helpless; When I talk about us, I talk about the victims. Is irreparable what we have lost“, said.
Juan Carlos Rodríguez Martínez, who lost Jhoanna Rodríguez de Grullónwas another to speak this Friday. He stated that he lost his daughter in the accident and the “negligence” has worsened the loss process.
“We need justice, we need an example to be set that here there is a path where one can endure, apart from the divine. It is very painful to lose a daughter, but losing her due to negligence is more painful,” he commented.
Jeniré Mena Martínez, Anastacio Peguero, Ana María Ramírez and Remberto Durán were other victims who spoke in front of the First Investigative Court of the National District.
