It is distinguished by its depth and majesty in yesterday’s message there was such a wording. “One hundred years after the catastrophic events of the genocide, when it seemed that such terrible crimes remained in the past, unfortunately, Artsakh was depopulated by new genocidal acts…”
The most important question of the hundred-year-old Armenian political thought and since 1991, the state thought. how did it happen, how was it possible and what should be done so that it never happens again?
We have neither the honesty nor the maturity to answer these most important questions.
How could the people who saw genocide allow the loss of Artsakh? How could the people who allowed the loss of Kars not follow through and allow the loss of Artsakh just 100 years later?
We are rapidly losing our territories and the Armenian population in our territories. This is the historical dynamics. In case of such a process, what will happen in 50 years, one can guess.
A narrow perception of security is itself a security problem. We had only one way to really win: to create a modern, viable state. What did we do? For a moment, it seemed to us that we would solve the issues only thanks to the army or weapons. It was frivolous, perhaps the immature thinking of a newly created country.
A nation without a state for centuries miraculously gets an independent state in the 20th century, wins the war, and then makes the green card and Russian citizenship a national idea.
What defect is this in our thinking? Why is state thinking so absent among our elites, the educated public?
How does it happen that officials of different caliber, after leaving the job, quietly emigrate? How will the country be managed with that disturbing psychology?
On the 111th anniversary of the Genocide, we continue to repeat with inertia: the world must recognize the Armenian Genocide. First, the majority of the civilized world has already recognized it, then, in front of the same recognized world, the depopulation of Artsakh took place and today the physical destruction of the Armenianness of Artsakh is taking place. And what? If we receive ten condolence telegrams a day from different states and organizations of the world, will we feel better? It is, after all, the same world that calmly followed either the depopulation of Artsakh or the destruction of the civilian population in Gaza.
When and how should we understand that the state is the most real security system? But a healthy, modern state.
When and how should we understand our key risks and the unique right steps to neutralize them?
A significant part of the Armenian society for the sake of Nikol (for the sake of position, material gain) can deny everything, do every ugliness, humiliate, self-destruct.
One day we will understand where and how that layer was formed: hating Artsakh by order, denying Mount Ararat by order, erasing one’s own memory by order, arresting an archbishop by order, insulting His Holiness by order.
It is clear that this is not an endemic characteristic of the Armenian people. The same can be done in all bardzitolag societies, where the state has not formulated its goals and has not worked towards the formation of a society in accordance with these goals. At that time, more serious states will appear, which have formulated their own interests, and will “correct” the gap in the neighboring country’s society.
Formation of a society adequate to the goals of the state and contributing to their achievement is the most important task of the state. Today, the exact opposite is happening in Armenia. a public model serving the destruction of the state is formed with clear steps.
We should definitely have that discussion about our past thirty-year journey. And in the case of a brave discussion of that question and a brave, honest answer, maybe we will get the answer to the question raised by His Holiness. how could such a thing happen? And what can be done to stop the course of a new tragedy?
