Today, Minister of Communications, Zouhair Bouamama, called on the media to “commit to neutrality, objectivity and transparency in covering the election campaign.”
The Minister of Communication stressed “the important role of the national media in the success of the elections as the bridge between candidates and voters,” calling on them to adhere to impartiality, objectivity, and support transparency.
After attending the lottery process for distributing the time slot for the candidates through the public audio-visual media entitled “Direct Expression”, in anticipation of the electoral campaign for the next July 2 legislation, the Minister urged media professionals to exercise a spirit of responsibility, professionalism, accuracy and timeliness in conveying and communicating information during the electoral campaign period, and to stay away from prejudices and choose appropriate terminology and descriptions, as well as to work on structuring the political debate and raising the level of dialogue to contribute to reaching the informed voter.
He also urged the minister to examine the information and be wary of those who use artificial intelligence to influence the electoral process.
The lottery process took place under the supervision of the Acting Head of the Independent National Authority for Elections, Karim Khalfan, in the presence of the Head of the Independent National Authority for Audiovisual Control, Ammar bin Jeddah, along with the Director General of the Public Corporation for Audio Broadcasting, Adel Salakji, and representatives of the Public Corporation for Television and the Constitutional Court, as well as the judicial record.
