After years of continuous engagement in the Democratic Party, today I am making one of the most difficult decisions of my journey.
I was present in campaigns, confrontations and various political processes. I held different roles and responsibilities, participated in decision-making and engaged with the conviction that I was serving a cause in which I believed.
During this period, I have given time, energy, dedication and above all parts of my heart, fulfilling my duties responsibly and staying true to my convictions. For this reason, today’s decision is not easy. It is accompanied by strong emotions and deep appreciation for an important chapter of my life, for the people I have collaborated with and for the experiences I have shared.
However, there comes a time when you have to reflect honestly and make decisions in accordance with your conscience and principles.
After a long reflection, I have decided to retire from any function and responsibility that I currently hold in the Democratic Party and to end my political commitment.
I am not leaving because of a lack of will or strength to continue. I’m leaving because I believe that, under certain circumstances, responsibility to yourself and your principles requires knowing when it’s time to take a step back.
I gave everything I could to this road. Today I don’t feel the need to prove anything to anyone. I leave behind the political commitment, but not the convictions, principles and respect for what I have experienced and built during these years.
Today I leave politics with a clear conscience, with respect for what I have given and with the belief that new chapters begin exactly when you have the courage to close the old ones with dignity.
