    The manipulation of terror

Miami/More than a quarter century has passed since the day America was shaken to its foundations. Painful evidence of the resentment and hatred that governments and people feel towards the country, which, with defects, errors and numerous successes, has achieved heights that its own enemies would like to reach.

September 11, 2001 will remain in the collective memory of this nation with similar intensity as December 7, 1941, Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. These are dates that no one can ignore, because they were events that marked a before and after for this country and the rest of the world. What happens here doesn’t stay: it goes around the planet in seconds.

I was in the newsroom of Radio Marti. The televisions were active when someone called attention to the fire in one of the missing towers. I don’t think any of us suspected that it was a terrorist act, a conviction that caught us when the second aircraft hit the other tower. That was devastating evidence, I think we all thought about the victims of that horrendous act while we realized that no one is protected from evil.

The most impressive thing for me was the speed that those elevators acquired and the fabulous view of the famous block that, I fear, is in the process of decomposition

I had visited the towers a few months before. It was an extraordinary experience, but the most impressive thing for me was the speed that those elevators acquired and the fabulous view of the famous block that, I fear, is in the process of decomposition, both due to external threats and due to the ideological leadership that currently drives it. Because seeing Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Mayor Zohran Mamdani laughing in the middle of a commemorative ceremony for the attacks, as if they had been at a social event, could be understood as carelessness or that they do not feel the slightest respect for the memory of those who were murdered by Islamic terrorism.

History has shown that a misguided political class can do as much or more damage than the most catastrophic conflagration. And I have no doubt, based on experience, that both politicians support the worst future for this country, because their proposals have failed in all the countries that have come to power. Although they, to justify themselves, repeat like a mantra that socialism has never been built.

Since that fateful day the country has changed a lot. Terrorist acts did not succeed to the extent of making governments make us live in a state of siege. But the knowledge that danger is a constant, that predators are lurking, waiting for the opportunity to attack causing the greatest possible damage, is a reality that continues to burden us.

Conflicts, although very devastating, are sometimes inevitable

The trust of the past has been extinguished, making security measures in all areas more than necessary, controls and checks that may annoy us, but protect us.

Terror is an efficient means of control and manipulation. The lack of scruples of the terrorists is inconceivable. They are capable of repeating horrendous crimes like those of 9/11 and surpassing them. His creativity for evil is limitless. That is why conflicts, although very devastating, are sometimes inevitable.

For example, at the time the war with Afghanistan was forced, it was the sanctuary of the cruelest criminals and refuge for the worst of all, Osama Bin Laden.

Tehran has used the country’s resources to forge forces to impose its voracious appetite for power everywhere.

Currently, the war with Iran is more than pertinent. The theocratic dictatorship of ancient Persia not only violates its own people by hanging on cranes those who oppose them or those who simply publicly expose their discontent, but they attack their neighbors or deny the existence of States, as they do with Israel.

The Iranian theocracy is the regime that most contradicts the values of the West, combining different resources to impose its plans. It resorts to financial, institutional, military and technological practices to apply forms of asymmetric warfare with the aim of destabilizing its enemies, while seeking allies in areas of interest to the United States to have the opportunity to attack from the rear. Hence its close collaboration with Cuba, Nicaragua, Bolivia and the Venezuela of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro.

Tehran has used the country’s resources to forge forces to impose its voracious appetite for power everywhere, as evidenced by the actions of Hezbollah, the ayatollahs’ jewel organization, which operates as an armed militia and political party; the Houthis, on the western coast of Yemen, who attack Western allies with the resources that Iran supplies them; and also to Hamas, which receives weapons and financing from the same boss.
