The Lithuanians started the confrontation with two layups by Aurelijas Pukelis, and although Puerto Rico held on for a while (4:4), in the end, the physicality of the main tower of our national team became a big problem for the opponents – 6:4.
However, the opponents did not get lost, they came back and even at the end of time they took the initiative 9:8.
The Puerto Rican national team had a two-point advantage, but then Evaldas Dziaugys hit from under the basket, Aurelijs Pukelis nailed a three-pointer and our team took the lead again – 15:14.
In the last seconds, the Lithuanians maintained a fragile lead and celebrated their third victory in the tournament.
Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. our team will finish the battles of group D against France.
On the first day of the competition on Tuesday, Lithuanians defeated Belgium and Brazil.
The winners of the group will immediately go to the quarter-finals, and the second and third-placed teams will continue the fight in the round of 16.
