There has been life and excitement in Akureyri today, and young skiers and their families have flocked there.
The parade left Lundarskóli at 19:00 tonight and the games were officially held in the sports hall afterwards.

It can be estimated that well over two thousand were in the march and the class was tightly packed in the sports hall. A total of nearly 1,100 compete at the games, which are now being held for the 50th time.
Tomorrow the actual games begin, which will last until Saturday.
