The importance of religious and human values in the life of the individual and society

Values are a set of principles adopted by a group of people, which are absolutely positive. There are no negative values, unlike morals, and people practice them. To ensure that it remains within the circle of free and dignified life for its individuals, and that values have a great moral price; That is why it was called that, as it is an indication of integrity, and it is what determines the path of positive morals in the nation.

Islamic values are a set of standards and provisions derived from the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, which aim to regulate the life of a Muslim and his relationship with his Creator, himself, and society. These values represent a fundamental pillar in the life of the individual and society, as they form personal identity, direct behavior towards good morals, provide psychological stability and emotional comfort, and contribute to building a cohesive, safe, and productive society by promoting social solidarity, achieving justice, and consolidating the fine human principles that regulate relationships.

Islamic values are the set of morals that create the fabric of the Islamic personality, and make it integrated and capable of live interaction with society, harmony with its members, and work for the sake of oneself, family, and faith. They are ideals and rules that are recommended by nature, reason, and Sharia, upon which human life is based, distinct from animal life.

The first verses that were revealed to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, were not only a call to reading, nor were they a call to receive sufficient knowledge, but they were to something more comprehensive and profound. They were a call to active, dynamic movement for construction and creativity in response to the Caller {Who created * He created man from a clot of clots}, and the “active kinetic process” was one of the greatest foundations on which human values in Islam relied.

Islamic values are distinguished from others in terms of their source and goals. They are rules derived from the texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah, and their goal is to direct the Muslim’s heart to its Creator with love, reverence, and humility, and determine its direction to one sublime goal, which is achieving the satisfaction of God Almighty.

The values of Islam are sufficient and comprehensive if we follow them and translate them into living reality, and abandon the outdated method of singing about these ideals and their perfection, without making any attempt to represent them and apply them practically. There are values of good role models that can inspire political and educational leadership. To set the most wonderful examples of patriotic sentiment, fighting extravagance, extravagance, luxury, and false appearances. There are values of being intentional in spending, not being extravagant, and frugality is half of living, but we spend without taking into consideration. There is a strong warning against luxury and corruption, and that it is a harbinger of bad luck, demise, and destruction. {And when We intended to destroy a town, We commanded its affluent ones, but they disobeyed therein, then the word came true against it, so We destroyed it with complete destruction}. There are the values of hard work and perseverance, and taking wages and money their due. “Give the worker his wages before his sweat dries.” There are values of relying on oneself and on available resources, and turning to God through prayer. In order to expand and bless these sources.

Values are divided into individual (pertaining to the self), family (the basis of social cohesion), professional (loyalty and work), and national (justice and equality). Values in Islam are considered constant that bind a person to his Lord and society to achieve comprehensive happiness.

Values are the “compass” that moves a person and directs his behavior, and their importance lies in the following aspects:
For the individual, in directing his behavior, it helps him make the right decisions, distinguish between right and wrong, and build his personality. It gives the individual a sense of identity, self-esteem, psychological comfort, and living according to your own values reduces internal conflict and gives him a feeling of satisfaction and peace.

For society, it serves for social cohesion (e.g. justice and cooperation) and security; When values such as honesty and responsibility prevail, crimes and problems decrease, trust between people increases, society advances and progresses, public behavior is controlled, and religious values enhance coexistence and social solidarity, strengthen social ties, and encourage cooperation, solidarity, and relief to the needy, which builds an interdependent society.

Establishing the values of respect and justice achieves stability and security, reduces disputes and conflicts, and creates a safe environment. Religious values represent a strong motivation for development, work, production, and civilizational progress. They contribute to sustainable development, work to preserve cultural identity and protect society from disintegration and dissolution, and preserve moral heritage from generation to generation. They are the fortress that protects the individual from loss, and the foundation on which any developed, successful, and stable society is built.
