The Government has agreed increase the immigration quota by 250 authorizations to “respond to the personnel needs of basic and essential services”, as well as certain strategic occupations for which there are no professionals in Andorra, according to a statement. The measure is adopted because the 890 authorizations that were available have been requestedwhich leaves global number of permissions exhausted that had been planned this year, including the possible exceptional extension, specifies the Government.
The expansion is split into two distinct blocks that cannot be offset against each other. The first foresees 150 authorizations: 135 for residence and work and 15 for border work. These address occupations in groups 1 and 2 of the National Classification of Occupations, as well as health and education sectors, caregivers in care centers, home assistants and bus drivers.
The second block includes 100 authorizations: 90 for residence and work and 10 for border work. These correspond to the other professional occupations provided for in Decree 159/2026 that are not included in the previous section.
The Government points out that these authorizations will be deducted from the global quota of the general quota which will be approved later, as it already happened in the spring.
