The Egyptian national team is armed with its past to achieve a historic victory against Belgium

The Egyptian national team is armed with its past to achieve a historic victory when it faces Belgium, today, in Seattle, at the start of the two teams’ journey in Group Seven of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

Before this confrontation, the Egyptian national team excelled in direct confrontations against its rival, as it achieved three victories compared to one victory for Belgium in four friendly matches, during which the Pharaohs scored seven goals, compared to four goals against them.

But today’s confrontation will have completely different calculations, as it is the first official match between the two teams, and both are seeking to achieve a victory that will enhance their chances of qualifying for the second round of Group Seven, which also includes the Iranian and New Zealand teams.

The mission of the Egyptian team, led by its technical director Hossam Hassan, will not be easy in achieving victory over Belgium, given the technical and historical differences between the two teams. Despite being the most successful team with seven African Nations Cup titles, it is preparing for only its fourth participation in the World Cup, and dreams of achieving the first victory in its history in the World Cup. On the other hand, the Belgium national team is participating in the World Cup for the 15th time in its history, and the fourth in a row, and won the bronze medal in the 2018 World Cup.

To achieve these ambitions, Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan is betting on a number of pillars across the team’s various lines, most notably the attacking duo Omar Marmoush, the English Manchester City star, and Mohamed Salah, who left Liverpool this summer after a successful career that lasted nine years.

On the other hand, the Belgium national team is armed with strong and prominent elements in various lines, such as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid player, Leandro Trossard, the Arsenal striker, Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku, and veteran Kevin De Bruyne, the Italian Napoli star.

Spain is looking for a perfect start against Cape Verde

The Spanish national football team seeks to achieve an ideal start to its journey in the 2026 World Cup, when it faces the Cape Verde national team (Cape Verde), which is participating for the first time in the tournament, today, in the city of Atlanta. The team of the coach, Luis de la Fuente, is one of the most prominent candidates to win the title this summer, and Spain is classified among the most prominent candidates to win the 2026 World Cup, in light of De la Fuente having a very strong squad, and the Spanish national team is the holder of the European Championship title after defeating England in the final. «Euro 2024». Spain’s failure to overcome Cape Verde will be considered one of the biggest surprises in football history, as it is considered the most likely candidate to win the match, which is the first confrontation in history between Spain and Cape Verde.

    Saudi Arabia challenges Uruguay’s ambition

Hard Rock Stadium will host the Saudi national team’s match against Uruguay this evening, as both countries begin their journey in the 2026 World Cup.

The Saudi national team has been a regular guest in the World Cup tournaments since 1994, having participated in every edition up to this point with the exception of 2010 and 2014, when it failed to qualify for the finals.

The Saudi national team’s journey in the last two World Cups ended in the group stage, and in fact it only reached the round of 16 on one occasion, which was in 1994.

Coach Georgios Donis’ team enters this match after a goalless draw with Senegal in its last friendly match before the World Cup.

The Saudi national team relies on the capabilities and skills of the team’s leader and historical top scorer, Salem Al-Dosari, who scored 34 international goals, and is missing the services of Nawaf Al-Aqidi due to a muscle injury.
