Qatar coach Julen Lopetegui points out that Qatar made a historic success by qualifying for the World Cup and that now they want to continue dreaming.
– When we arrived here about a year ago, our goal was to qualify for the World Cup. With God’s help, we achieved it, and the players wrote history. We don’t want to stop now. We know what kind of opponents we face. We know we are in the World Cup, but we want to follow our dream. We don’t think anyone here gives us gifts. Now we want to be as competitive as possible, starting with the first game tomorrow, said Julen Lopetegui.
Lopetegui points out that a strong opponent awaits them tonight.
– I think that Switzerland is a very, very strong team. Most of them are top players. I don’t want to talk about just one, I would have to talk about all of them.
Switzerland coach Murat Yakin points out that the victory in the first match is very important.
– The victory in the first game is very important, beyond the points themselves. It’s good for the atmosphere within the group, for momentum, said Murat Yakin, then added:
– We have analyzed Qatar in detail and know what to expect. We know all the details about our opponent. What we are less familiar with is the unknown factor of starting a new competition. There may be some nervousness in our team, although I think we are experienced enough to avoid it. We want to be dominant, find solutions and impose our game. The whole team is looking forward to the game.
The match Qatar – Switzerland is played from 21:00 our time in Santa Clara. The match is refereed by Said Martinez from Honduras.
