The Kosovo Bar Association has condemned the attack with an explosive device on the house of lawyer Betim Kadolli, describing it as a serious criminal act and an attack on the justice system itself.
In its reaction, the Chamber emphasized that there is no motive that can justify terrorizing a family in the middle of the night, assessing that the explosion that shocked the lawyer’s family is an expression of malice and contempt for the legal order.
According to the Chamber of Advocates, any attempt to intimidate a lawyer through violence is an attack not only on the individual, but also on the constitutional right of citizens to legal protection.
“Any attack on a lawyer, because of the profession he practices, is more than an attack on an individual. It is an attack on the right to defense, on a free and independent profession and on justice itself,” the reaction says.
The Chamber has called on law enforcement and justice bodies to treat the case with high priority, demanding the identification and punishment of the perpetrators, as well as any person who may have incited, organized or supported the attack.
Also, she has expressed solidarity with lawyer Betim Kadolli and his family, stressing that the institutions’ response to this case will be proof of the functioning of the rule of law.
“At these moments, silence is not prudence, silence is surrender”, concluded the reaction of the Chamber of Advocates of Kosovo.
The police have confirmed that the tool thrown at Kadolli’s house is suspected to be a hand grenade. There was only material damage from the explosion.
