The Azerbaijani court has sentenced eight Russian citizens to prison, who were arrested a year ago, during the sharp escalation of relations between the two countries.
Sergey Sofronov, Anton Drachyov, Dmitry Bezugli and Valery Dulov were sentenced to 4 years each, Dmitry Fyodorov, Boris Timoshov, Alexey Vasilchenko and Ilya Bezugli – 3 years each in the case of illegal drug trafficking.
Earlier, in related cases, Alexander Vicero was sentenced to 4 years in prison on charges of money laundering, Igor Zabolotskikh and Ilnura Valitova were sentenced to 3 years in prison each on charges of legalization of funds obtained through cybercrimes.
According to the “Nastoyashchee Vremya” program of the “Free Europe/Freedom” radio station, in the summer of 2025, a group of Russian citizens, including IT specialists, entrepreneurs and tourists, were arrested in Azerbaijan.
