PARAMARIBO — The Uitvlugt police suspect that the mechanic RH has harmed several customers between April 13 and May 29 by forging purchase receipts from A-Plus Autoparts on Kwattaweg. They are called upon to report to the police station with the forged receipts. RH, also known as ‘Tesh’, was arrested on May 29 for forgery, the Suriname Police Force (KPS) reports on its website.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the mechanic performed repair and maintenance work at his home address on Pompoenstraat. Customers were referred to him by a worker from A-Plus Autoparts for work on vehicles that the company did not carry out.
RH, who is a regular customer of the car store, received purchase receipts when purchasing parts. The mechanic forged one of them and then had some made at a copy company.
Between April 13 and May 29, he gave counterfeit receipts to customers who had brought a vehicle to him for inspection. He told them that he had purchased the necessary parts from A-Plus Autoparts. The receipts stated amounts that were higher than the actual costs of the parts, which gave RH a financial advantage, according to the KPS.
The owner of A-Plus Autoparts eventually found out about the mechanic’s practices and filed a report on May 29. RH was immediately tracked down and arrested. His wife was also arrested in the interest of the investigation. However, it turned out that she knew nothing about her husband’s fraudulent actions and was sent away after questioning. The mechanic was insured after consultation with the Public Prosecution Service.
