Ansel Elgort and Thomasin McKenzie shooting at Liberty Square
Ansel Elgort and Thomasin McKenzie were spotted on the Budapest set of Dinner with Audrey, where filming is currently underway, taking breaks between scenes as Elgort greeted fans and posed for photos. The production, which recreates 1950s Paris in Hungary, is shooting at several locations around the city and features McKenzie as Audrey Hepburn and Elgort as Hubert de Givenchy.
The film is directed by Abe Sylvia, with a screenplay by Kara Holden. According to IMDB, the movie
follows the 40-year friendship between Audrey Hepburn and designer Count Hubert de Givenchy, centered around one magical, fashion-filled night in Paris.

In Liberty Square, the actors were seen walking around, talking, and sitting on a bench during shooting. Extras dressed in period costumes and vintage cars were present at the scene, some even being driven for the purpose of the shoot. Statues were covered with constructed newsstands, and Hungarian street signs were replaced with French ones.

This movie marks a comeback for Ansel Elgort, who seemingly took a break from the spotlight after movies like Baby Driver (2017), The Goldfinch (2019), and the Divergent series. He was last seen in West Side Story (2021) and the TV series Tokyo Vice (2022-2024). He appears well suited to the role of fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy.
During breaks, the actor was approached by fans and was happy to take pictures with them. Unlike other international productions, the cast and crew did not seem bothered by the crowd of spectators.

The actress Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit, Last Night in Soho), underwent a significant transformation to resemble the beloved actress, Audrey Hepburn, whose style is still admired by many. Hepburn’s mannerisms and natural charm are very hard to capture accurately.
Many films have attempted to portray the beloved actress and philanthropist. Some succeeded, while others were met with disappointment. It was also announced that American actress Lilly Collins will portray her in an upcoming movie about the making of the classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961).

Biographical films are notoriously difficult to execute well, but Budapest convincingly recreates 1950s Paris through detailed sets and production design. Supported by a dedicated cast and crew, Dinner with Audrey is shaping up to be a visually ambitious project. The film is scheduled to be presented to international distributors at the Cannes Film Festival.
