Doha, June 11 (SANA) Syria has completed its first participation in a multinational urban search and rescue exercise in Qatar, Emergency and Disaster Management Minister Raed al-Saleh said Thursday.
The exercise brought together specialized rescue teams from Qatar, France and the Syrian Civil Defense for training focused on disaster response and rescue operations in urban environments.
Al-Saleh said the exercise provided an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation, exchange expertise and enhance operational readiness for emergency situations.
Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force, Lekhwiya, Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani described the trilateral exercise as a milestone in regional emergency response cooperation.
In a post on X, he said the drill demonstrated a high level of preparedness and coordination among the three countries’ teams, and reinforced Qatar’s role as a regional and international hub for emergency response training.
The exercise, organized by Lekhwiya from June 7 to 12, included field simulations designed to replicate real disaster scenarios.
Officials said the drills aimed to improve preparedness, enhance technical capabilities and strengthen international cooperation in life-saving operations in densely populated urban areas.
