THE STVINCENT AND the Grenadines Sailing Association is the recipient of six sailing boats to add to its fleet, and most importantly drive its national programme.
According to the association, the boats were lodged at a British Army base for 25 years.
The boats have since been delivered to the Grenadine islands of Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island, where they will help support and develop sailing opportunities for local communities.
The procurement of the boats and the realization of the project was made possible through the generosity and commitment of David Barnard and Kestrel Liner Agencies UK, as well as support provided by Geoff Paton, Resident British Commissioner to St.Vincent and the Grenadines.
Prior to their commissioning here in St Vincent and the Grenadines, members of Vincy Sailors spent two days carrying out repairs, maintenance work and sea trials to ensure the vessels were worthy after years lodged in storage.
