Igor Stojanović, vice-president of the Federation of BiH from the Serbian people, said that the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina defended and liberated its country, while the military and political structures that the regime in BiH entity Republika Srpska glorifies the perpetrators of genocide.
His comment followed after the Government of Republika Srpska adopted the Draft Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of the RS, which foresees a prison sentence of up to three years for public display of the symbols and flags of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the territory of this entity.
In addition to the criminal offense related to the RBiH Army, the amendments to the law also make Public promotion and glorification of Ustasha and Ustasha ideology of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) a criminal offense.
Stojanović says that the Government of the RS is thus trying to put the Ustasha symbols and the symbols of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the same level.
– It is another retrograde and shameful attempt to rewrite history, said Stojanović.
He reminded that the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was a legal military force of the internationally recognized state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
– The flag with lilies was its official flag and was flown in front of the headquarters of the United Nations. The army of the RBiH defended and liberated its country, while the military and political structures that the regime in the RS today glorifies have been legally condemned for genocide, ethnic cleansing and the most serious war crimes, he pointed out.
He told the authorities in Republika Srpska that they can pass shameful laws and try to equate the victim and the aggressor, but they will not change the historical facts.
– We will speak the truth and overturn such laws before the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, concluded Stojanović.
