GOMEL, 23 June (BelTA) – The president asked to convey to the residents of Gomel Oblast that we have enough strength to repel an attack of any aggressor. Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Ivan Krupko made the statement while talking to reporters after delivering a report to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.
The situation at the border was one of the topics during the meeting. “Continuous work is being done to ensure security not only at the border but also the overall security of our residents and the work of the economy. The president was also updated on the situation in the areas near the border, and as a matter of principle, along the entire border. It is probably no secret to anyone that for more than a year now the border service has been on high alert to control the border and interact with the population and other defense, security, and law enforcement agencies. Just like in the world as a whole, the situation is complex but stable and under control. Today security is the top priority,” the Gomel Oblast governor noted.
The head of state was also informed that all processes in the region are running smoothly and in a well-coordinated manner, with the economy and social institutions working.
“The president asked me to tell the residents of Gomel Oblast not to worry or be anxious about anything: we have enough strength and means to repel an attack of any aggressor. Everything will be done for the sake of security of our citizens,” Ivan Krupko emphasized.
“The president was also interested in the following situation: the season of wild crops, the season for picking mushrooms and berries is starting. What is the situation? Because in the past [people] from the Ukrainian side applied to be allowed to forage along the border and in the territory of Lelchitsy District and Yelsk District. The president instructed to work out issues to ensure the safe organization of this work if Ukrainian citizens need it. Such work will be carried out, and I will report on the possibilities and proposals to the head of state,” Ivan Krupko said.
