Speid, Coley set to have contracts renewed by JFF

KINGSTON, Ja­maica – Rudolph Speid and Miguel Co­ley are ex­pect­ed to be reap­point­ed to their re­spec­tive po­si­tions by the Ja­maica Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion (JFF) some­time next week.

Speid was ap­point­ed in­ter­im head coach of the Reg­gae Boyz from De­cem­ber 15, 2025, to March 31, 2026, fol­low­ing the res­ig­na­tion of Steve Mc­Claren, while Co­ley was named as his as­sis­tant.

And even though they failed to lead Ja­maica to the 2026 FI­FA World Cup af­ter los­ing 1-0 to DR Con­go in the In­ter­con­ti­nen­tal Play-off Fi­nal in Mex­i­co last month, they have been pub­licly sup­port­ed by JFF pres­i­dent Michael Rick­etts.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­port by The Glean­er, both men are set to re­sume their roles fol­low­ing a meet­ing of the JFF’s tech­ni­cal com­mit­tee sched­uled for April 19.

When con­tact­ed, Rick­etts re­mained tight-lipped on the mat­ter.

“I can’t an­swer that be­cause that is a board de­ci­sion and the board meets on the 19th of April. The tech­ni­cal com­mit­tee will make rec­om­men­da­tions, and the board will rat­i­fy it on the 19th of April,” he said.

Last week, Rick­etts re­vealed that the JFF would not be seek­ing the ser­vices of for­eign coach­es for the head coach­ing jobs.

Dur­ing an in­ter­view with Ja­maica Ob­serv­er, Rick­etts said he hoped Speid and Co­ley would con­tin­ue in their re­spec­tive roles.
