On Thursday, the officers received information that a suspected minor is driving around Jelgava.
Officers responded to the information and immediately arrived at the scene.
After noticing the officers, the teenager started to drive even faster, violating many traffic rules and endangering the safety of other road users. As a result of this incident, the police opened a criminal case and ten administrative law violation cases.
Police officers repeatedly urged the driver to stop the car, but the person did not respond and continued to run, ignoring police demands.
The escape ended when the young man hit the fence of a private area on Saldaus street. After getting out of the car, the young driver ran away. There were three other minor passengers in the car.
No one was injured in the accident, and the offender was arrested.
As a result of this incident, the police opened ten administrative law violation cases: one – for driving without a driver’s license, one – for unjustified exit from the roadway and damage to the metal fence, one – for failure to comply with the requirements of the road sign “Drive on the right”, two – for failure to comply with the requirements of the road sign “Do not enter”, one – for failure to comply with the requirements of the road sign “No further driving without stopping”, two – for speeding in a place marked with a road sign “Residential Zone”, and two for speeding in a place marked with a “Residential Zone” road sign.
An investigation was also launched under Article 259.1 of the Criminal Code for a traffic violation that manifested itself in aggressive driving after the officer’s repeated request to stop the vehicle.
