An application implemented at Çalış Beach in Fethiye district of Muğla attracted the reaction of the citizens. The sign placed at the entrance of the beach announced that it is forbidden to spread towels around the sun lounger and umbrella areas.

It was claimed that the practice victimized people who wanted to benefit from the beach by bringing their own towels. It was seen that the cost of a single sunbed at the beach was 250 TL, and the sunbed and umbrella set was 750 TL. This situation brought with it criticism that the usage areas of the citizens who wanted to swim without paying a fee were restricted.
CALL FROM CITIZENS TO AUTHORITIES
Residents of the region and some non-governmental organizations called the authorized institutions to action, arguing that this practice was against the principle of free and equal use of the coasts. Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Fethiye Municipality and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change were requested to intervene in the matter.
