Sanctioning Nobitex and a big ambiguity / Are users’ assets at risk?

Online Economy – Meshya Heydarian; The inclusion of Nobitex’s name in the list of new sanctions of the US Treasury Department has become one of the most important topics of the Iranian cryptocurrency market. Since Nobitex is the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Iran and millions of Iranian users use the services of this platform, there are concerns about the security of assets, the status of withdrawal and deposit of cryptocurrency and the continuation of the activity of this complex.

The lowest actual purchase was recorded after the opening of the stock market

The follow-ups of Economy Online show that Nobitex has included various scenarios of external restrictions in its technical and operational plans for a long time and has been prepared to face such conditions.

Investigations by the reporter of Economy Online indicate that the protection of users’ property is still the priority of this platform, and most of the assets are kept in cold wallets and under multi-layer security mechanisms. Also, technical and security teams continuously monitor the status of networks, assets and various services.

    Users continue to access assets

One of the most important concerns of users after the news of the ban was the possibility of restricting access to assets. The received information shows that currently the access of users to their assets is established according to the previous routine and the operational activities of this complex continue without changes.

Based on this information, placing the name of Nobitex on the sanctions list does not mean that the ownership of the users’ assets will change or that their access to their funds will be automatically blocked. Also, in case of any important changes in the status of services, withdrawals or user access, notification will be made through official channels.

The important thing is that the main part of users’ assets are kept in cold wallets and only a limited part of assets are on networks or assets that can be frozen at the level of the network or smart contracts.

Based on this, the available information shows that the recent sanction does not mean that the assets of Nobitex users are blocked, and the security and operational mechanisms of this group will continue to be responsible for the protection of users’ capital.

There are no critical dependencies on external services

The reviews of Online Economy also show that the main infrastructure of keeping users’ assets is designed in such a way that it does not have a critical dependence on external services. The technical and operational architecture of this platform has also been developed from the beginning taking into account the international restrictions and the specific conditions of Iranian businesses.

As the reporter of EkoztanOnline has been informed, alternative routes and risk management plans have been defined in advance for the sectors that may be exposed to external risks.

Cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals continue unchanged

The received information indicates that the process of depositing and withdrawing cryptocurrencies is currently being carried out according to the previous procedure and there are no restrictions on the provision of these services. Of course, in some periods of time, the processing time of some requests may increase due to the increase in the volume of requests, more security checks or the conditions of blockchain networks, which does not mean that withdrawals will stop or a general disruption of services.

Warning about transferring assets to some external platforms

The follow-ups of Ekhtazonline from one of the sanctioned cryptocurrency exchanges in Iran show that some foreign services or exchanges may impose restrictions on checking or processing some transactions based on their internal policies. Accordingly, users are advised to check the conditions and policies of the destination platform before transferring assets to foreign exchanges or services so as not to face possible restrictions.

The important point for the audience is that several programs have been designed in advance for different scenarios of restrictions and operational pressure. These programs include areas such as network risk management, maintaining liquidity, monitoring assets, maintaining user access, and implementing security processes in sensitive situations.

In the current situation, the three main priorities of Nobitex, which is one of the slogans of this cryptocurrency exchange that it always mentions, include maintaining the security of users’ assets, the continuity of main services, and providing clear and timely information to users.

What is the most important concern of Nobitex users?

According to the calls of some customers of cryptocurrency exchanges that are on the sanctions list of the US Treasury Department, the most important concern of users since last night has been the security of assets and the possibility of accessing them.
