Shaheed El Hafed (Sahrawi Refugee Camps), May 6, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi National Human Rights Committee received Monday a delegation from the Italian Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, led by its chair, Ms. Laura Boldrini.
During the meeting, the representative of the Sahrawi committee, Sidiya Aabiyelil, briefed her on the latest developments regarding the human rights situation in the occupied areas of Western Sahara, as well as the conditions of Sahrawi refugees.
The Italian parliamentary official was accompanied by her deputy and other officials, in the presence of the Polisario Front’s representative in Italy, Ms. Fatima Mahfoud. During the meeting, the Sahrawi committee’s representative provided detailed information on the most pressing human rights issues of concern to the committee.
The meeting also gave the Italian guests the opportunity to raise questions about the human rights situation in both the occupied territories and the Sahrawi refugee camps, as well as to discuss a range of broader concerns that the parliamentary committee was interested in understanding from the Sahrawi perspective.
