Ronaldinho comeback: Football legend joins third division club Ravenna FC

The sensational comeback is perfect! The two-time world footballer Ronaldinho surprisingly continues his career and joins the Italian third division club Ravenna FC. The traditional club and the 46-year-old Brazilian officially announced this at an event in Miami. Club president Ignazio Cipriani, entrepreneur and hotel chain owner, described the transfer as an “extraordinary moment” for the club and its further development.

The representatives of the Serie C club spared neither effort nor expense to introduce the transfer and flew especially to the USA, where Ronaldinho is currently staying and can often be seen in the stadiums at World Cup games. The Italians staged the entire transfer with a pompous video on social media. As befits his status, the Brazilian will wear the number 10 on his back.

Comeback after more than ten years

According to the club’s statement, it should be “much more than a symbolic obligation.” It was said that Ronaldinho had set himself the goal of scoring his last goal as a professional footballer in the Ravenna jersey. “I can hardly wait to dance with the ball again to write a new story together with Ignazio and the entire Cipriani family,” said Ronaldinho about his plans.

Ronaldinho played his last game as a professional in 2015 for Fluminense Rio de Janeiro. A little over two years later, he officially ended his career. One of his greatest successes is being voted World Player of the Year twice. He won the Champions League with FC Barcelona in 2006 and four years earlier he won the World Cup with Brazil. Only time will tell whether Ronaldinho is serious about his comeback or whether the whole thing is still more of a marketing campaign.
