THE PRESIDENT of the Central Kingstown Development Organization (CKDO), Leroy Rock, is accusing the Ministry of Social Welfare, Community Empowerment, Disaster Management, and National Heritage, of preventing the CKDO from accessing approximately EC$50,000 of their property which is stored in Redemption Sharpes Community Centre.
Rock complained to SEARCHLIGHT that the organization has not only been blocked from getting their property which is stored at the centre, they are also being prevented from using the centre for community activities.
Rock said desktop computers, monitors, musical instruments and furniture belonging to CKDO are at the centre, a building that they have been using for over 20 years to host various community programmes.
The CKDO President also noted that because of his organization’s inability to use the building, their annual summer programme had to be scaled down from hosting 50 children to 15 children, and the duration from two weeks to one week.
