Regarding the restructuring of the defense apparatus, the activist stated that the transformation of the military sector constitutes the fundamental pillar to guarantee the economic and social stability of the nation.
He stressed the urgency of making the National Armed Forcesrestore its criteria of technical professionalization and adapt the defense doctrine to the true strategic needs of the Venezuelan State.
“I would say that there has to be a transition in the Venezuelan security and defense sector, because this transition will support the political, economic and social spaces of the country. Many adjustments must be made that require time, that demand technical capabilities and that we have to start making them now,” said San Miguel.
The specialist concluded that the country has an outstanding debt in terms of military modernization and citizen security, which is why she urged the structuring of viable projects with technical and institutional support.
The call of Citizen Control It seeks to open the debate on the conditions to adapt the security forces to the constitutional framework and ensure sustainable democratic governance over time.
