The strike of three of its guilds Authority of Electricity on the day when one of the most important meetings since the foundation of the Republic of Cyprus was held – the informal meeting of the EU in the presence of a group of leaders from the Eastern Mediterranean states – brings to light another major issue: who the President of the Republic chooses for each important post.
EAC is presented as an organization that does not want(???) or cannot(???) adapt to the way the free market operates, while the other public organization SYTA has not only modernized but successfully competes with the other players in its field of activity… The persons appointed to the boards of directors are obliged to serve government policy. Quite simply, if they disagree, they don’t claim. They do not accept appointment. Or they resign. In the choices that will be made soon we expect wiser decisions to be made so that we don’t have such phenomena… The guilds that went on strike who did they want to expose? The state they serve?
