The first part of the school fees for the school year 2025/26. will be refunded to self-financing students by the end of this month, and the money should be deposited on the same day into the accounts of all academics who are entitled to a refund of part of the tuition fees, Danas unofficially learned from the Ministry of Education.
As we were told, higher education institutions have entered student data into the Unified Education Information System (JISP), and now the tuition fees need to be entered, followed by payment.
Today, he recently wrote that the Ministry of Education missed the deadline for refunding the first part of tuition fees to self-financing students, because the payment was supposed to be completed by April 30, as stipulated by the Law on Higher Education.
The authorities reasoned that it was not possible to enter the procedure for this school year earlier, because the payment for 2024/25 was completed late. a year. That payment was made in several installments, so it has now been decided that the refund will be made in two installments, as provided by the Law.
On April 22, the Ministry of Education announced that the procedure for paying 50 percent of tuition fees to self-financing students for the 2025/26 school year has begun.
“The Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the Treasury Board, Bank Poštanska štedionica and higher education institutions, has started the procedure to pay out funds to self-financing students who exercise the right to a tuition refund in the 2025/2026 school year, within the terms prescribed by the Law on Higher Education, i.e. in two installments. The Ministry of Education has allocated four billion dinars for these needs,” the Ministry stated at the time.
The law, let’s remind, provides that the payment will be made in two installments – no later than April 30 of the current school year for school fees paid by the end of February, and by September 30 of the current school year for the remaining amount of school fees paid, based on data submitted by higher education institutions to the Ministry.
The student has the right to cover costs for each year of study he enrolled for the first time, that is, for all courses he enrolled for the first time, and this is valid only for one study program at the same level of study.
This will be the second year that the state will refund half of the tuition amount to self-financing academics.
