MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – Negotiations between representatives of Belarusian Railways and Kaliningrad Railway took place in Minsk to discuss areas of cooperation in the transportation of cargoes and passengers, the press center of Belarusian Railways told BelTA.
Head of Belarusian Railways Valery Verenich and Head of Kaliningrad Railway Sergei Sapegin took part in the negotiations. It was noted at the meeting that the parties are taking all possible measures to increase the freight traffic, including in cooperation with shippers and consignees, transport and logistics companies, and structural divisions of the railways.
The Russian colleagues came up with the initiative to look into the matter of implementing multimodal services and a project for transporting food cargoes in refrigerated containers via an overland route. In turn, representatives of Belarusian Railways mentioned the ongoing work to organize freight transportation, including by organized container trains using the infrastructure of the Belarusian multifunctional marine transshipment complex Bronka in St. Petersburg.
In accordance with the standard train schedule for 2025-2026, five pairs of trains operated by Russian Railways are scheduled to run in communication with Kaliningrad Railway. Work will continue to create the most comfortable conditions for organizing passenger transportation between stations of Belarusian Railways and Kaliningrad Railway. The development of industrial cooperation was also discussed during the meeting.
