A few hours after his resignation Harry Kastanidis from PASOK, the fight with the party president continued through the television “air”. The president of PASOK Nikos Androulakis responded to the spikes against him and the former minister – with a dose of irony – again criticized the official opposition leader.
Speaking on Alpha’s central news bulletin, Mr. Androulakis emphasized that he has no personal relationship with anyone, stressing that the decisions of the recent conference do not concern Mr. Kastanidis personally.
In response to harsh characterizations of the letter of resignation of Haris Kastanidis he meaningfully noted: “It is not the first time. He is consistent. With the same words, he has attacked Andreas Papandreou and Kostas Simtitis. That is why Papandreou deleted him, Kostas Simitis dismissed him and split PASOK under the presidency of George Papandreou. I think he is consistent in this attitude towards PASOK and its leadership.”
“At the PASOK conference a month ago, we made a decision, almost unanimously. More than 5,000 delegates participated. What does this decision say? For MPs five terms and no more, for MEPs three terms, for presidents of tertiary organizations three terms. Why did we do this? We did not do it for Mr. Kastanidis. It concerns too many people, it also concerns me who was an MEP, it concerns too many executives. We did it to send a message to society: that politics is not only the Parliament, the European Parliament and the presidencies”, continued the president of PASOK.
New fire from Kastanidis
A little while later, Haris Kastanidis commented on the interview of Nikos Androulakis, accusing him, among other things, of allowing his colleagues in municipalities, regions and chambers to collaborate with the Right.
“Aren’t they ashamed to say that Simitis fired me? Aren’t they ashamed to say that I split PASOK in 2012 when I was deleted?”, he continued in a stern tone, speaking to Action24.
Finally, when asked about the findings of tonight’s poll by the television station, which want the president of PASOK to register low flights in the suitability for prime minister, Mr. Kastanidis gave a mocking answer, against the background of the attempt to expand PASOK.
“I’m sorry that I can’t fight a shocking battle to bring Mr. Androulakis to first place. He will have to fight the battle alone and together with those who are full of political wisdom joining PASOK. Various executives with a heavy political presence have already arrived,” he noted.
