He Ministry of Health informs that the contest for medical residencies 2026 eIt will be open from this Friday, April 17, until May 1, a period in which those interested will be able to opt for one of the 1,400 places available nationwide.
Through its Medical Residency Division, the Ministry indicated that applicants must deposit the corresponding documentation through the electronic platform https://psrm.msp.gob.do/#/home, which was enabled for these purposes.
To participate, applicants for positions must have passed the Single National Examination of Medical Residencies (ENURM), which is applied by the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), with a minimum qualification of 60 points. The qualification obtained will be valid for two consecutive years, so the results corresponding to the year 2025 will be accepted; however, those who took the exam in 2026 will only be able to use the most recent score.
Specialty requirements
The process includes the registration of personal data information on the electronic platform. The required information includes names and surnames, ID number, address, age, university of graduation, and the date they completed their medical degree.
Likewise, they must detail the completion of the law internship, indicating the start and end date, in addition to the exequatur number or proof of procedure, and the medical registration number. The system will request that you detail the specialty to which you are applying, as well as the hospitals selected to carry out the corresponding interviews.
Likewise, applicants must be doctors who have graduated from universities recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) and authorized by the Executive Branch. In the case of graduates from foreign universities, they must validate the degree in accordance with current regulations in the Dominican Republic, they must reside in the country and meet the same requirements established for Dominican citizens.
Likewise, they must complete the process with the upload on the digital platform of the title and grade record certified by MESCyT, exequatur (or letter of procedure) and certificate of No Criminal Record valid for one month, certification from the Dominican Medical College (CMD) valid for three months and up to date with payments, updated and sealed medical certificate, ID or passport and recent 2×2 photo and proof of payment of RD$1,500 in the case of Dominican applicants and US$1,500 for foreigners, to the medical residence account of the MSP (Reserve Bank) No. 010-252713-0.
In addition, payment can be made in person or online, through the platform enabled for the application process.
He National Council of Medical Residencies (CNRM), establishes that the contestant must attend three aptitude interviews with the selection committee of each hospital, which will have a value of 1-5 non-divided points. Each contestant must take a copy of their file to the hospital where they will be interviewed and make a non-refundable payment of 500 pesos to the Teaching Department of the Hospital where they are interviewed.
Each applicant may only compete for one specialty and, if selected, must comply with the provisions of the current regulations that regulate the practice of medicine in the country. Private institutions must provide residents with the same salary that they receive in the Public Health system.
Subspecialty requirements
While the requirements for subspecialties establish that applicants must complete personal and academic information, including names and surnames, ID number, address, age, university of graduation, hospital where they studied the specialty, with the start and end date, university that endorses the specialty, exequatur number, medical registration, subspecialty to which they opt, as well as the hospitals selected to compete and conduct interviews.
Regarding the required documents, applicants must attach the title of doctor of medicine certified by the MESCyT, specialist title or letter of completion, exequatur, letter of completion from the hospital where they studied the medical specialty that includes the grades for the year of residence, duly signed by the corresponding authorities, an updated 2×2 photograph, a copy of the ID card, or of the passport in case of being a foreigner, a current CMD member certification valid for three months.
Medical certificate updated and stamped by a registered doctor, certificate of no criminal record (with less than one month of having been issued), proof of payment corresponding to the registration process (RD$1,500.00 for Dominicans and US$1,500.00 for foreigners); Published works may be included with a maximum of two for each category.
The Ministry of Public Health indicates that no institution may publish positions other than those officially included in the competition document; The doctors who win one of the positions must comply with the provisions of the law that governs the practice of medicine in the country.
