The Dutch influencer Jade Kops He died at age 19 after battling rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer.
Through a statement published on her Instagram account, the content creator was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.
“It is with deep sadness and immensely proud of our brave daughter and sister that we inform you that Jade passed away this morning at 5:50 am in our presence,” the post reads.
At age 14, Kops was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. Since then, she decided to raise awareness about childhood cancer.
In addition to documenting his battle against the disease on social media, Kops also wrote the book Voor Altijd Jong (Forever Young).
The last message he published on his Instagram, where he accumulated almost 500 thousand followers, Kops wrote a letter addressed to his “annoying tumor.”
Just two weeks before his death, he confessed: “Every night, I’m afraid I won’t wake up the next morning. I’m living in the biggest nightmare I could ever imagine and it’s all thanks to you.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, soft tissue rhabdomyosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that begins with a proliferation of cells in the soft tissue.
