PARAMARIBO — Via the ‘PSA Suriname’ app, which is available for free in the Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sr.gov.psa), persons of Surinamese origin (PSA) can submit a new application or renew their PSA document. They can scan their passport, after which the data will be automatically copied, upload a passport photo and the required documents and pay securely online. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Cooperation reports this in a press release announcing that the ministry’s PSA website can now also be downloaded as an app.
Via ‘PSA Suriname’, as the app is officially called, it is also possible to follow the status of the application, receive notifications and save the digital PSA document on the phone. For the time being, the app is only available on Android devices. “Approval for iOS is being worked on, so that the app can also be downloaded on Apple devices. Until then, users of Apple devices can continue to use the PSA website“, the ministry said.
The PSA document is intended for persons of Surinamese descent abroad who have a nationality other than Surinamese. Since June 2025, the application and payment have been made completely digitally via the PSA website. A month later, the document was issued as a digital PSA card.
