The Public Prosecution has ordered the pre-trial detention of a company commissioner and a former financial controller at the Medical Supply Authority over alleged corruption.
In a statement published on its official page, the Office of the Attorney General said investigators had uncovered an attempt to procure 1,000 “outdated” insulin pumps at a cost of €11m, with a price difference exceeding 125% compared to newer models.
The statement added that the Medical Supply Authority had relied on what prosecutors described as a “fraudulent contract” to push through the deal.
According to the investigation, the Libyan Diabetes Authority had refused to receive the shipment, citing technical unfitness.
