Ulaanbaatar, April 21, 2026 /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, who is paying a State Visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, was welcomed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Akorda Presidential Palace on April 21, 2026.
The State Flags of the two countries were raised at the square in front of the Akorda Palace, and following a report presented by the Commander of the State Honor Guard to the President of Mongolia, the national anthems of the two countries were performed.
Presidents Khurelsukh and Tokayev greeted the soldiers of the State Honor Guard and the official delegations of both sides attending the welcoming ceremony and posed for a commemorative photograph.
The two Heads of State will hold a tête-à-tête meeting and official talks, participate in a signing ceremony of documents related to expanding and developing bilateral relations and cooperation, and provide information to representatives of the media.
President Tokayev graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
He holds the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and a Doctorate in Political Science, and speaks Russian, Chinese, English, and French.
He began his diplomatic career in 1975 as a staff member of the Embassy of the USSR in Singapore. He previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Senate before being elected Head of State in 2019.
Following constitutional amendments, he was re-elected in the extraordinary election held in 2022 with 81.31 percent of the vote.
The Akorda Presidential Palace of Kazakhstan was commissioned in 2004. Its name means “White Palace.” The Presidential Administration and the President’s Office are located there.
The seven-story palace includes 12 halls and rooms, such as the Marble Hall, Golden Hall, Oval Hall, Eastern Hall, Guest Hall, Expanded Negotiations Hall, and the Security Council Meeting Hall, as well as a library and a park.
The dark blue dome symbolizes the eternal blue sky and matches the color of Kazakhstan’s State Flag.
A traditional Mongol ger crown (toono) with sun rays and an eagle figure is placed atop the palace as a symbol of freedom, independence, peace, and the unity of the people.
